RE: '91 200TQ door panel removal??

Ralph,

First, put the window down.

You must then loosen the allen screws in the armrest/door pull. They are
in the underside of this peice. You willthen be able to remove this
part, disconnect the switches, and remove the door handle.

The door handle has a screw inside the housing that must be removed,
then you must remove the cable fromthe handle. Some small vice grips
will help you with this (to hold the cable in the 'extended' position)

Then remove the screws on the top ends of the door panel and pry/pull
off the plastic cap over the side mirror.

Unless I've forgotten something, removing the door trim is then a matter
of unsnapping (by prying with a screwdriver or like) the door panel.

To replace the key lock you'll then have to remove the inner frame (the
window assembly/frame) This is a simple matter of four bolts at each
corner - you'll see them. Mark the frame position first so you don't
have trouble re-installing and getting a tight seal between the window
frame and the body. There are a couple of electrical connections near
the foot of the door that you should disconnect to get more work space.
You don't need to remove the frame entirely (some wires will still be
connected), just pull it out and lean it against the frame of the car.

The lock is then hidden behind a thin piece of foam rubber. Set and
install your new part and reassemble.

Hope this helps.

Good luck! (It's not that tough, really)

Hi guys:
Can one of the experts point me in the right direction on removing the
drivers door upholstery on my '91 200TQ? Yesterday, the key lock became

disconnected from the mechanical lock actuator and I am afraid that I
may
have offended the Gods and today, the passenger side will likewise
fail. I
just want to be sure that I don't cause additional damage since it is
not
obvious how the upholstery is attached.

TIA
