Re: NATTC dead

I'll go further: Too bad the rules changed to allow wings & splitters.
After watching the BTCC races of 1991 that a friend in the UK was kind
enough to tape and send to me (at the time, I had access to a PAL TV), I was
thoroughly hooked. By 1994, when Alfa showed up, my interest was beginning
to wane and by 1996, it no longer interested me at all ... yet, I still dig
out my tapes from 1991 through 1993 and enjoy every minute of them, despite
knowing every move by every car in every race by heart.

That said, racing series don't have an indefinitely lifespan. As they
become more popular, sponsors are more willing to invest money in the teams
which, in turn, are more than willing to spend it ... in the end, it's a
death spiral of ever-increasing costs until the next "alternative" series
comes along to replace it. Such is life (war?)...

(And to make this relevant to the Q-list: I think the silver/red colors Audi
uses on its SuperTouring cars is especially unattractive, unlike the colors
they used on the TransAm/IMSA/GTCC cars back in the late '80s...)
