Living in Boulder Colorado, there are an awful lot of college students
here who have never seen snow, much less driven in it. Their parents buy
them all manner of SUV's so their kids will be safer in "dangerous
driving conditions." Why are they dangerous driving conditions you ask?
Well, for example, whenever it snows more than a half an inch, and we're
bored, my roomate and I (who live on a moderately busy intersection)
bring our lawn chairs onto the roof, and watch the SUV's crash around
once every 15 minutes. On heavy snowfalls, the tow trucks hang out there
before they are even called! SUV's are certainly not all bad, many
reasons metioned earlier in this thread, but IMHO most (not all) of the
drivers are a different story.
