Steering Column Switch

Hi All!

This is my *virgin* post. I am a German car fan of long standing.
Still have the '72 Bug I got my license in 25 years ago.

Besides the bug, I now own about a dozen Merkurs (stop tittering now!)
and am active in IMON (The International Merkur Owners Network)
Substitute *Masocist* for Merkur, but that's a different story.

Now that I own a *winter car* being a 5CSTQ (is that the right acronym?)
I have joined the Quattro Club and have subsribed to this list.

This is your first test, gang!

My turn signal/high beam stalk flops around aimlessly fore and aft,
therefore, the brights are always on unless I manually hold the stalk
back halfway, which is very inconvienient.

Looking for advice: Any cheap fixes without replacing the whole
steering column switch assembly? If not, where can I get one cheaper
than from Audi?

Eagerly anticipating feedback -- off list unless you feel the whole
group would benefit.

And, yes, I WILL learn to search the archives in the future, but this is
sort of an urgency.

Cheers!
