"Severe Brake Fault" indicator lighting up...

Hi!

I have had problems with the brakes on my '90 Audi Turbo (200T).
When I'm driving on fairly bumpy roads at about 120km/h all of a
sudden my brake indicator on the auto-check display will light up
without me using the brakes. The graphic depicted on the display is
the circle with the dashed lines around it and the exclamation mark
in the middle of the circle. I know the pads are warn, I am replacing
them next Monday, but why should this fault occur when I'm not
using the brakes? It tends to do it more when going through
mild turns/curves at 120-130km/h. I have had the brakepad wear
indicator cables replaced, but the problem just started happening
more. I've removed them and replaced them with small wire loops to
fool the monitor into think the pads are still okay. But today it
did it again. Also, sometimes I'll get a scraping sounds which
sounds just like the sounds you'd get if you scratch on the splash
plates, this occurs mostly on left turns.

If any of you have read my other postings you'll notice my car also
indicates "out-of-fuel" sometimes on left turns. I think I should
just replace the left side of my car. :) Make left turn, brakes
go bouncy-bouncy-beep and car say thirsty.

What gives? Any clues?

Thanks.

Cheers!

G.
