Well Steve, at that price--from a dealer--you must have gotten some kind of
warranty (I hope?) Here in NY State a warranty is required on used cars of
that recent vintage/mileage. But in any eveny don't panic or lose sleep. It
may be as minor as a slipping or broken drive belt for the hydraulic pump
(used for both steering and braking). Or maybe it needs a new pump or hose.
Not items that any reputable dealer will give you _any_ hassle about
fixing, especially considering the immediate circumstances.
Anyway, give them a chance to make it right. They got an "adequate" price
for the car and shouldn't need to give you a hard time--especially since
you have some personal relationship there. Wouldn't hurt to tell them about
the Qlist and how we're all waiting to hear how it turns out ;-)
