4KQ Electrical...

Hey listers!

     I have an offhand question.  When I start my ' 86 4KCSQ, my voltmeter
shows that the car runs at a low setting, sometimes what seems like six or so
volts and will stay this way until the engine is revved to about 3K rpm or
so, and from then on it show twelve or more volts, is this normal for this
car?  I had the original alternator rebuilt and it did this before and after
that so I'm thinking that this is some kind of built in idle setting?  Thanks
for any info!
