Dumpvalves

Alex gave a fair descriptionof what dump valves do, but he said
one thing that I will beg to differ on. He said "they are of little
use on automatics". I have an auto and I've told on previous
postings about the icooler hoses I'm using. I had problems
early on with their clamping and as a result, they would blow
off during excess pressures. Then I installed the dump valves.
What I'm trying to say is the pressure forced the hoses off and I
got to see exactly when the manifold pressure would surge. All
of us with the slushboxes know that extremely wide gap between
1st and 2nd? That was the first place I'd blow my hose. Ever
drive in the city? I do. I have to hit the gas and then let go
suddenly. Not enough time to slowly release it. Trust me. Some people
say dump valves don't do all too much. For my driving style, they
very much do....Later
