One other thing,

It was my understanding that on a car equipped with an
electronically-controlled, crank-trigger ignition system the computer has
the capability to compensate for some rotation of the distributor relative
to the crankshaft and keep the timing in line.  Once the static timing has
been set, you can rotate the distributor by hand and the computer will
adjust the firing of the coil to keep the timing in check.  Correct?  What is
the limit to which the computer can compensate in this way or am I totally
off-base?
