No, the other way around. You want more timing advance as the engine
speeds up. Advance is in the sense of "in _advance_ of TDC (top dead
center) on the compression stroke", in other words, the spark goes off
before the piston has completed the compression stroke to give the fuel
time to burn completely. At high RPM, if you were to set the spark off at
TDC, the piston would already be descending towards the exhaust
stroke before the flame front could reach all of the fuel in the combustion
chamber, not very efficient, plus you expel more still-burning mixture past
the exhaust valve, increasing its temperature and shortening its life.
