I just upgraded from Win95 to WinNT (don't start) but forgot to write
down the access codes for the CD.
I've got the ALLDATA Personal Edition CD, Set K: Imports Acura through
Mazda 1992-1993 Makes & Models. I got the TSBs with the CD and later
purchased the repair manual (though I wish I hadn't). Does anyone have
these numbers that they would be willing to e-mail me? I tried to call
ALLDATA but there's just this inpenetrable maze of menues.>>
My win95 system got too unstable, so I reformatted and re-installed. I,
too,
totally forgot about the Alldata codes. It appears there's no easy way
to
punch in your serial number (either thru the phone or over modem), and
get back your access code. Luckily I had also installed it on my
laptop, so
I copied the directory over and got it to work.
I believe every CDROM has it's own unique serial number and access code.
No one
else would be able to unlock your CDROM. I've CC'ed someone at Alldata
who is listed
as the Lead Imformation Support person (hello Shirley!). Maybe she can
shed a light
on this topic. It seems shortsighted of Alldata not to provide an easy
means of
obtaining the access code that you ordered, given the flakey nature of
Microsoft's
OS'es, or the cheap, low quality hard disks used by PC vendors.
