I5 water pump failure - when?

I've had two water pumps fail - one on the late lamented Coupe GT, and one on 
the ur-quattro.

Thing is - I can't really be sure of the provenance of each.

So - a question for those of you who've installed a new original Audi waterpump 
and subsequently had a failure - not many, I suspect.

Exactly how many miles did your waterpump last?
