Compression decreasing block on MC turbo engines...
Hi!
I posted a message on Sunday, but it was just a splurge about some
fantastically fast vehicles I saw at the local track. I did ask some
other silly questions, but not much of a response on these things, so
I'm just going to pop them into the list again. They're just thoughts,
though...
On the MC turbo engines Audi decreased the compression ratio from
9.2:1 (??) to 7.8:1 by using a spacer between the engine block and the
head. On the S4 motor the compression is 9.2:1 (if I recall correctly
from the 1996 vehicle spec books most mechanics have). The S4 still
runs the 5-cylinder motor. Is this spacer the only difference between
the motors on these MC engines and the S4? Has anyone ever removed
this thing to increase compression and get more power? Any ideas on
whether it can be done or what the S4 is set up as in order to get
9.2:1 compression compared to the 7.8:1 of the MC turbos?
Just another one of my silly questions... :) Thanks. :)
