There are two lines attached to the control pressure regulator. They
have different size fittings on the regulator, and the largest one is
the control pressure line. At the other end, it will be attached to
the 'top' of the metering head, and the other line will be plumbed
into the supply from the tank. Remove the control pressure line from
the top of the metering head - wrap it in an old rag as you undo it,
because fuel will spray out. Usually this is a 6mm Allen screw -
on some cars it's a hex-head banjo (banto, in Audi-speak) bolt that
needs a thin-walled socket.
Adapter R14146 screws in to the metering head and is then attached
to the gauge line _without_ the tap in it. The banjo bolt is used
to attach the control pressure line to the other gauge line. Use
the old washers when measuring, and put new ones on when finally
reassembling.
Start measuring with the tap open and vent the gauge with the button
on the side. Be aware that the heater in the control pressure
regulator is probably wired in series with the fuel pump - if you
decide to measure without the engine running (you get a better idea of
system pressure) you'll have to pull the plug off the regulator to
measure its cold performance.

This is a friggin' Audi, right? Three sizes:
A8 x 11.5 N 013 807 6
A10 x 13.5 N 013 811 5
A12 x 15.5 N 013 812 8
This job needs just A8s. You need A12s for the main feeds to the
metering head, and I think the control pressure regulator is the only
place where A10s are used.
