ISO: Reliable.. But fun. Suggestions?

Maybe you folks can help. I'm in the market for (yet another) car.
Right now I've got the 100CSQW. I just sold the miata to get out of
making car payments. Here are my criteria:

1. No more than $5000

2. FUN to drive. Especially on winding back roads.

3. Reliable. This is going to be a commuting car. It needs to work
regularly without a lot of maintenance.

4. Air conditioner. (this rules out, of course, most classics, but have
you ever spent a summer in DC? This is a necessity)

5. Convertible would be nice, but at least a sunroof.

6. Prefer 4-cylinder (again, the commuting thing)

I'm not concerned about front/rear/all wheel drive, european vs.
japanese (American is not an option, in the interest of HANDLING).
Here's where I am: An earlier Miata, coupe GT, Cabriolet, Nissan Sentra
SE-R, Prelude Si. Any experience on these models? Any suggestions for
more? Know anybody selling one? Help!

TIA!
