Re: "Outside Temp" adjustable?
Ok. I've had a look at the diagnostic memory within the head unit of
the climate control. I am going to list the data readings here by
channel. I am also going to list the ambient conditions and the
engine conditions. If anybody is more up to scratch with climate
control then could you perhaps look at this stuff and see what is
going on and perhaps figure out what I need to check/fix?
Here is the ambient conditions:
Real outside temperature: 23 celcius
Here is the vehicle conditions:
Location of car : carport, no wind interference
Engine bay temperature : 87 celcius (on temp gauge)
I let the aircon run for a while, no cooling effect. Then idled
the car, set the head unit into diagnostic mode and checked the
channels:
Channel Reading
------- -------
1 09 (car is 1990 model, very late 89 200T)
2 120
3 105
4 57
5 142
6 255 (nothing attached I assume, but how to
check?)
7 _ (segments on for: rad fan 1st speed,
| _ air recirc door open,heater valve
_| closed, centre vents 1/2 open, floor
vents open)
8 222
9 248
10 48
11 13
12 0
13 not used
14 0
15 12.4
16 not used
17 segment on for Temp./mode shut-off conditions
18 none
19 0
20 0

22 not used
I performed the test again this morning with the car cool, heating
works well, but cooling can't be tested as the lowest temp on the
unit is higher than the 13 celcius outside. But cool air was coming
through anyway.
Hopefully someone can give me some clues as to whether this unit
is working okay. I'd also appreciate it if I could find out what
parts to check fully to determine where the fault might be.
A note on air con gas. I put in new gas about 1.5 months ago. The
air con worked then, but for only a week and has since moved back
to its old problem of blowing only hot air most of the time.
Thanks.
G.
