Re: "Outside Temp" adjustable? --> Soapy H2O as gas leak meter...

Hi!

I just took this AC unit of mine to the shop. Once again, out came the
bottle of soapy water. It would seem that a halogen sniffer is one
of those rare beasts in this town/village where I am forced to live.
After having the entire left hand side of my firewall and
evaporation chamber coated for the 2nd time in soapy water they managed
to see a tiny little leak at what seems to be some valve or perhaps
the pressure sensor (it's connected to one of the pipes leading into
that big silver canister, has 2 connectors onto it and screws onto
the incoming pipe through a off-shoot pipe). Removed it and got told
the small o-ring inside is too small. It was dry and a bit frayed
on the one side. Then ofcourse I had to wait 30 minutes while one of
the guys went over to the spares stores to find a similar rubber ring.
Just my luck, can't find anything. They were just about to replace
the ring with some of that plumbers white tape-like sealant when I
just decided to put back the old ring and keep it until I can get
a properly sized one. They're about 50 US cents, so fairly cheap.

Well, at least I've now got my outside temperature in such as fashion
that it won't prevent the aircon from running. And now I've found
the leak (or at least one of them) and will soon patch it up and
recharge the AC.
