I think you're right there. The head unit also indicates low
pressure.

How about the first time I got here and the motor was jumping around
like mad? Felt like a misfire or sticky valve. Took the motor to
several local mechanics. One guy pulled out this long screwdriver,
stuck the point to the block, held the handle cupped in his hand and
put it to his ear. Then diagnosed my motor as having a bust hydraulic
lifter and valve and alternator having shot bearing. :) Took the motor
somewhere else, put it on a dyno, tuned it and it worked fine after
we picked up that it was running grossly rich. :)

Heck, I don't even know what these guys put in. The guy who worked
on the thing is definitely part of the family who runs the place and
can't be more than 18. He just dragged some can over and proceeded
to pump new gas into the AC. Then looked at me and said R193, please.
(R=Rand, total job about US$50). Great, all I asked for was to check
the thing, not fill it! Lots of places here do radiator work, their
signboards also indicate air con work. Guess I should just take it to
a proper aircon-only spot.
Thanks.
