i would modify that by saying that at least some of the exterior surfaces
of the 4k's were galvanized.  i remember reading this at the time i bought
my 85 4kq.
in addition, there was a nickle sized dent on the leading edge of the rr
wheel well where the paint had been removed by the impact of a rock.  over
several years of new england winters, the surrounding paint never bubbled.
there were no bits of rust flaking off.  the appearance never changed other
than the discoloration of the bare metal surface.  it behaved exactly as a
galvanized surface would...
