Re: Coupe GT Anti-sway....

I have been driving on a set of the original "Suspension Technique"
Anti-sway bars, front and rear,
since 1988. Included are aftermarket "stiffer" and "lower" springs.

The difference of the Coupe GT's handling ability, and prowess, is night and
day!
Coupled with a set of Bilstein's,the Coupe has been quoted as being "one of
the
best handling car's around"(European Car, August 1986)

Even the UK magazine "Max Power" gives the GT high marks with its beefed up
suspension!

The original anti-sway bar set from ST, was at the time, the only kit
available!
Low sales, forced ST to no-longer make the bars. Its been rumored that Red
Lion
Racing, in Cali. purchased up the remainder of the set's. Supposedly Ivor
of TAP,
has a source for the bars within the UK.

Over the years the rear bar has seemed to fade into obscurity!

Reason being for that of which AudiDudi mentioned, about the rear axle
needing to twist.
Further more, the mass of the cars weight is up front!
Personally, I've found the GT (with rear bar attached) to handle better, on
a track, with
135lbs of "ballast" in the trunk!
Removing the rear bar completely, is almost "un-noticeable", and in certain
conditions, useful!

An after market set of stiffer/lowering springs, and a "good set" of shock's
"designed" for stiffer springs,
is ample for street driving! The front bar can be improved upon, with
finding one from and older Ur-Quattro.

A set of 15" wheels is a nice addition, but those OEM 14's with good sticky
tire's, will do well in
the hottest of track events!(BTDT) Be prepared though, to go thru wheel
bearings, bushings and upper strut bearings!
Such is racing!

For the street, stick with a "milder" setup, it will help with the pocket
book, as well as
keeping you out of trouble with the law!(BTDT)

I find myself driving the 88-90Q more often than the "go-kart" Coupe GT!
Comfort has become priority! (guess I'm getting older!)
