Did them on my 86 5kCSQ for the same reason.  Still have some front end
shimmies.  The biggest improvement came when we replaced the brake pads
after destroying them at PIR.

With Pat Martin's help, it was an evenings work, including the time
spent grinding down an old subframe bushing to use to press the old
inner bushings out.  A 32mm socket _cut_ the guts of this bushing out
- pressed right thru then the ground down subframe bushing pressed out
the bushing's metal sleeve.  The sleeve is useful for pressing
the new bushing in, so it's good to press at least one out.
We did the sway bar bushings at the same time.  The parts were
less than $100 total including shipping from GPR for both sides.
