I found an unused, thick red wire with the female connector near the
fuse box and used it to supply power to the lights. I understand the
best way is to connect the lights as close to the alternator as
possible, but it has worked for me. Another good place is the positive
post in the engine compartment.

I used the hood release cable grommet, but I had to route only one wire
through the firewall, as I used factory fuse and relay sockets in the
fuse box.
