There is a company called Novus (and probably others) that has franchised
locations which do this kind of repair. It's typically a low-cost fix ($49,
i think) and involves injecting a clear resin into the crack, induced by
pulling a slight vacuum on the area via a suction cup. The resin cures to a
transparent color and (usually) the crack is no longer detectable in the
straight-ahead viewing position.

They come right to your house or place of business -- where ever the car is
located. I've had this done twice. Once with near-perfect results and once
less successfully. (I got a complete refund for the less-than-successful
attempt.) You also might find out that your insurance company will take care
of the cost, as it avoids an expensive windshield replacement. It's worth
two phone calls; one to your insurance agent and one to whatever repair place
they recommend (or check the yellow pages under "glass and windshield
repair.")
