Re: automotive multi-test meter???
I just bought a Fluke 87 from a company called Fotronic (800)-996-3837. It
was on
sale for $289. It is a beautiful, hefty, professional meter that looks and
feels like it can withstand a lot of abuse. Still, this is one case where I
wish I was able to
buy both and compare...
A company called Brymen in Taiwan also makes a professional 4-1/2 digit,
40,000 count meter with a backlit screen, analog bar graph, etc., and all of
the features of the Fluke with a few thrown in for good measure. These
meters are sold by AMPROBE in the U.S., their model designation is 90/91.
The Brymen website is:

Their model designation is 830. It's an impressive-looking meter with dual
digital
display.

Also, the General Electric company sells test equipment that is used. The
last time I called, they were offering the Fluke 87 at $275.

I can't take anything away from the Fluke. It was expensive, but it's a
terrific meter with a lot of functionality, it is very accurate, and is a
pleasure to use. They also sell the 78 and 88 automotive test meters, both
of which might be interesting to you:

Still, I'd be interested to see one of the Brymen meters for comparison....
Best Wishes,
Alex
