Worth a shot?
I recently learned of an '87 4k (non-q) for sale, and I'm just selfish enough
that I'm not going to give contact info or say where I heard of it just yet.
According to the ad, asking price is $750, it has 116K miles--and engine
trouble. What kind of engine trouble, I don't know, as I haven't yet talked to
the owner. Assuming that the rest of the car is OK, would it be cost-effective
to get the car and scare up a wrecking-yard engine (assuming that that's
cheaper than fixing the existing engine)? How many hrs of labor to R&R an
engine? I should mention that I'd have to hire the engine swap out--I don't
have the time, tools, expertise, work space, or frustration tolerance to do the
job myself. TIA
