Dual muffler now single?

On my 91 200Q, the muffler has 2 pipes coming out the back. I noticed today after a cold start that it seemed to only be blowing exhaust out of one pipe. That pipe is all coated on the inside with carbon or whatever, while the other one isn't. I can't imagine this is a good thing. Anyone know what the inside of the muffler looks like, or why 1 pipe may be blocked and the other not?

This looks expensive.
