No spark
Hi everyone, I have a question regarding a problem with my 89 Audi-90Q. First,
thanks to all of you who responded to my problem regarding " engine missing
under load". Unfortunately, the situation has gone from bad to worse. In fact, the
engine died on me on my way to getting parts. Anyway, after I had it towed home, I
check to see if it had any spark. To my surprise it did not . So I check to see if
there was any spark getting to the distributor from the coil; there was none. I
assumed the coil was bad, but a friend of mine said that that may not be the case.
He said it could be the "Hall sender" in the distributor. So my question is this:
1. How do I check the Hall Sender? Can the distributor be checked outside the
car on the bench at a dealer??
2. If it is the Hall Sender, can I replace just the Hall sender or do I have to get a
new distributor?
3. If I do have to buy a new distributor, where is a good place to buy one??
4. Also, is there such a thing as a "Ignition Relay" on these cars??
BTW, is there anyone out there that has a Bentley manual for this model that
would like to get sell??
I know these are a lot of questions, but unfortunately, this is my everyday car, so I
am sort of stranded without it. Many thanks again for any suggestions.
Tony.
Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.
