My weekend with K&N
Hello q-list,
Several listers had requested that I report on any noticeable differences
resulting from the K&N airfilter change. Well, there certainly was a
difference.... low end power has increased noticeably, however, I have to add
this disclaimer: my old airfilter was filthy.
Once I had installed the new K&N, last Wednesday, I took the car for a ride
and immediately found myself in stop and go traffic; I was shortshifting and
discovered that low rpm running (1500 - 2000) was much, much smoother. I had
also had a problem with WOT from low rpm in 2nd gear, the acceleration was not
very linear, and in fact seemed to behave as if I kept lifting off the throttle
quickly and then getting back into it. Problem solved, WOT from low rpm in 2nd
gear is as smooth as it is higher up the rpm range.
So is it the K&N airfilter, or just the fact that I had changed from a filthy
to a clean airfilter? I can't say, but I can say that I'm very pleased. Would I
recommend the K&N? Why the hell not?
