... not cleaning in the usual sense necessarily.  I found that the magnet 
likes to attract little metal filings.  I don't know how much of a problem 
they pose, if any, but I do try to remove as many as I can when I have 
pulled out the ABS sensor.  

I haven't seen anyone reply to the original poster about how the sensor is 
adjusted ... what you need to do is to get new caps from the dealer (no 
more than a couple of bucks for a set of 4), and replace the old cap after 
removing the sensor and use it to position the sensor properly.  Bentley 
does have a couple of pictures that help here ...
