Re: ABS vs Snow Depth
>From the 89 200Q Owner's Manual:
"Under certain difficult road conditions, such as gravel or fresh
snow on top of ice, when extreme caution and slow speeds are
always imperative, it may be possible to achieve shorter stopping
distances by switching the ABS off. When the wheels are intentially
allowed to lock up, the "wedge" of snow or gravel that builds up in
fornt of the tires increases the braking effect. But always
remember that steering control is lost when the wheels lock.
The system should be switched on a gain immediately road conditions
return to normal."

Exactly my experience.

Can't do that in the A4 though. Got to be _gentle_ with
the brake pedal and all is fine.
