I am back
Hello, list!
I have just returned from sunny and friendly LA back to the
grim and cold-bitten east coast.
The first log-on yielded a mere 440 messages, the
latest one dated 27 November.
Evidently juno.com did not have the stomach to digest
10 days worth of Q-list traffic and quit receiving e-mail
for my domain.
Please accept my apologies for any bounced mail that some
of you might have sent and please kindly resend it again.
Brian, I received your message on my answering machine,
the 13th would be OK.
While in LA I had a distinctive pleasure of meeting Frank
Bauer and Paul Timmerman.
Brian drives a very gutsy, albeit stealth grey-market 200
with out-of-state plates (hope I don't reveal too much ;).
Paul's collection of Audis was impressive, as was his rally 323.
He also brews very good beer. Thank you very much, fellows.
I regret that a sudden schedule change prevented
me from meeting with Avi and Michael. Perhaps I'll be
in a lesser pinch next time around.
Since juno.com mailer leaves a lot to be desired,
I am now struggling with win95, trying to install
MCI Internet software. Could any of our computer
wizards help me out with the DUN configuration?
Please e-mail me directly. Thanks in advance!
As for my *third time and counting* A4 epic, here's
the good news and the bad news:
The bad news is my dealer sez:-*it is being built as we speak*,
although the car should have been here the first week of
December. It looks like Audi AG is lagging in production.
Given the past two experiences, in the best case scenario my
car will spend a fortnight crossing the Atlantic and yet another
fortnight en route from Boston to Philly. A whole cool month
of waiting ahead. Damn.
The good news is (or another bad news, depending on the point
of view):
Nokia Oy is also lagging in production, so those of us who are
daydreaming about drag racing Pathlosers and Land Bruisers
in 2 feet of show in a turbo quattro shod with Hakka 1 in all four
corners should hold their breath for another cool month of waiting.
Yet another good news is that Cobra Daytona Sport looks and
feels sooooo good that I have no hesitation left as to which seats
to install in the A4. Which in turn will also require at least 10 days
to make it to my door from the UK.
While in LA I visited Sube Sport in Huntington Beach (they carry
Cobra) and CEC showroom in Century City (they feature Recaro).
Sure the new Recaro Sport looks and feels very nice, but for about
twice the price of a Daytona Sport, which is hardly a 10% lesser
seat IMO.
