re:90 Coupe hatch leak and corroded taillight assy



Mike,

The water is coming in through the seal between the tail-light and body -
THROUGH the taillight assy (hence all the corrosion in there).  The tail-light
is sealed to the body with goopy stuff that dries out, and the hatch drainage
runs directly onto this seal. When I had a coupe, I re-sealed it with napa
winshield sealing adhesive tape (comes in a roll, is butyl or vynyl or somthin).

The tail-light does not come off the body easily - all the non dries out 
adhesive holds it really well. There are 3 of 4 nuts (8 mm wrench I think),
one of which is way forward at the corner of the side marker, and is hard to 
see.

I cought mine before there was a lot of corrosion, though I fixed a similar
problem on an old saab with solder and wire.....
