Engine Vibration (2200-2600 RPM) in 98 A4 1.8TQ

I have just purchased a 98 A4 1.8TQM (1000km on the clock). My first Audi
and a great car !

However I have noticed a really annoying engine vibration (buzzing) between
approx 2200 and 2600 RPM. I can feel it through the steering wheel, seat
and accelerator pedal. It is especially annoying as I seem to spend a lot
of time at this RPM, either accelerating through the box or cruising at 80
km/h in 5th (speed limit on most city roads). 

Has anyone else experienced this? I have also heard that this may be due to
turbulence in the turbo charger and that Audi are aware of the problem and
are working on a fix. Does anyone know anything about this ?

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
