Strange to see all these references to Carlisle on the List, as (presumably
the original) Carlisle, Cumbria, UK is just up the road from my location
here, and is just on the English side of the Scottish border.
I have never heard any mention this end of any namesake town in America - is
Carlisle PA a big place ? - Carlisle Cumbria is a small city, c. 100,000
population and is the the county of Cumbria's 'capital'.
