Re: AUDI TURBO ENGINE MANAGEMENT

Renier,

Which year 200 do you have in South Africa, another
list-member "Gerard" has a 1990 200T front wheel drive. His
car uses the MAC13 ECU that is located under the right side
kick panel. What ECU is in your car?

In the US we have the MAC10, MAC11 (A,B,C), and MAC14 ECU's
that are used in these cars.

The early ECU's '86-'90 that were used on the 5000/200
Turbos in the US, don't really have any adaptive, self
adjusting algorithms like the later vehicles.
The O2 sensor is used to tweak the mixture slightly but
that is about it. In some cases if you have a fault in your
system (bad knock sensor etc) then the ECU will adjust
things (timing) to run in a reduced power mode.

When you put in the stiffer Waste Gate spring, how did you
prevent the fuel pump cutout at the higher boost levels?

There are several people on the quattro-list who can modify
these ECU's for running higher boost and can raise the fuel
pump cutoff. Send me an email if you need any info.

Cheers
Scott M.
