Coated Header on Coupe!
On my 86 Coupe GT(NA) I have installed a "Jet-Hot" cerami-coated header.
My initial intent was to "preserve" the life of the header.
Especially since the header was custom welded, and took almost a year
to design, develop, and finally fabricate! Not to mention the amount of
money
and time involved in such an undertaking. I didn't want the "mild steel"
piece
of art, rusting away in a couple of years! Originally my concerns were put
slightly at ease, by having the header pipes chromed! But, I found out
later on that chroming is no sure thing either!
While I was up in Phoenix, AZ(Land of Zero rust), a friend suggested the
"jet-Hot"
as a "sure-fire" method of preservation for my header's! Added bennies,
claming
to reduce under hood temps, and improved performance, can all be justified
by the use of the coating.
But the biggest, most appealing thing I like about the coating, is after 5
years, the
"Silver" coated header looks like brand new! That's including over 50,000
mile's
in all sorts of weather, and living in Florida!
Plus the $150 cost of the coating, is a much better bargain than a new
header !
