Re: Clutch MC/ EGTs
Neil,
Thanks very much for posting the results of your EGT
operation in your Xr. Finally, someone else who takes data
and is interested in what happens to EGT before and after
the Turbo! Now I need to get setup to do this in my Audi so
that a bench mark can be established and then changes can
be recorded as I begin to tweak the WOT open loop fuel
delivery.

Usually this is the case, or the slave is leaking, the
fluid in the clutch hydraulic system often times never gets
flushed out and after 4-5 years and 100K miles the fluid
inside gets pretty ugly and eventually corrodes the bore in
the cylinder(s) and this degrades the rubber cups. You may
also want to take a quick look at the clutch linkage to
make sure nothing snapped or is worn.
I usually just replace the Master and Slave as my local
wholesaler has both of these for under $75. There are
rebuild kits available according to others on this list.
The Master cyl is alloy? if I remember correctly, but I
believe the slave is usually cast iron which may hold up
better and not get as pitted as the Master cyl.
