RE: Slightly different Seat Heater Question

I think it is Nichrome wire (I believe I read that here in an old
post...perhaps one of Igor's?). Recently our dog ate a chunk out of an
electric blanket (no, it wasn't plugged in) and I noticed the wire in there
may make really nice "patch" material for seat heater repairs and told my
girlfriend to hang on to the relic as I wanted to use some of that wahr. Since
I too will undertake this project soon, is the consensous to twist and
heatshrink or solder and heatshrink? My thoughts are that soldering invites
failure. What is the most reliable way of repairing these? (Besides leaving it
broke!) I can see it now, a run on Goodwill's inventory of dead electric
blankets to keep Audi seat heaters working--recycling at it's best ;-) I'll
post my results sometime after New Years.
