YAHOO!!! (Igor's new A4TQ)
Hello, virtual club!
I liked Dan's subject line so much that could not resist and used it for
my own post.
The Pearl Beauty is finally sitting in my garage, waiting for the
champaine to be sprinkled upon (it helps to avoid accidents, otherwise
how else could I explain the lack thereof so far? ;)
It looks like I and Dan both have received the ultimate Christmas gifts
-- a new Q.
My fist impressions of the new A4:
0. the A4TQ is a jewel. I am glad I did not go for a used '93 S4.
1. the 200TQ is such a technological dinosaur.
2. the A4TQ is almost impossible to steer. The steering feel is
HORRIBLE!
3. the incredibly light clutch and steering resemble those of a Honda.
4. the Sport Pkg is worth every penny.
5. the Pearl colour, although being quite girlie, in non the less
gorgeous.
6. the leatherette interior, although not wanted, is quite passable.
7. I can't figure out where to put 3 gauges, a CB and an EQ for the
Stereo.
More impressions upon my return from Canada.
I would like to wish all listers a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New
Year and also to thank some of them:
Vince Lyons, the Don Rosen Porsche Audi Parts Manager for helping me to
get a great deal on the A4.
Juko Haapanen for immediately responding to my urgent request about the
available A4 interior colour schemes.
Mark Hilbush and Greg Spark for suggesting that I test drove an A4Q with
the real ('98) Sport Package before I spent the dough on a '97 w/o one.
Scott Justasson, Scott Mockry, Jeff Goggin, Phil Payne and other tech
wiz's for always being the first ones to stretch a friendly hand when an
urgent knowledgeable advice is sought.
Doug Quebbeman and Henry Harper for immediately responding with help
with my win95 problem.
James Marriott, George Rath, Gross Scruggs, Sergei Lubich, Osman Parves,
Al Powell for being my pen pals.
Unka Bart and Brian Armstead for their friendship and hospitality.
Jon Linkov, Jim Griffin, Mark Quinn and other local fellows for putting
effort into arranging various Audi gatherings.
Paul Royal, Frank Bauer and Paul Timmerman for finding time to meet with
me in my business trips and share a drink.
and of course our Herr Listmeister Dan, for making the whole thing
possible.
Please forgive me if I forgot to mention somebody. The list mushrooms by
the hour and my correspondence with you is so vast that it's hard to
avoid forgetting to mention somebody.
Talk to you all next week.
