high idle
Hi everyone,
Hope everybody had a pleasant holiday. Thanks for your advice concerning my
86 5kcst high idle.After a thorough inspection of the intake manifold I
have discovered an unused hole (about 10mm dia) in the back of it facing
the firewall. Thought it could be responsible for my woes as a path for
unmetered air. Plugged it but made no difference. To make long story short,
I still have a couple questions:
1. Is my 86 5kcst equipped with an auxiliary air valve?
2. How can I get my mixture ( and plunger) back to approx. right position?
3. Could the fuel pressure or throttle potentiometer be a problem?
The car is hard to start cold, picks up to about 3k rpm after starting,
then stalls after about 1 min. Impossible to restart when hot. The exaust
looks and smells rich, but any attempt to lean stalls the engine. No
reaction to idle screw or ISV disconnect. IMHO, no vacuum leak. Sorry for
the wasted bandwidth.
