high idle

Hi everyone,

Lately I've been experiencing crazy idle on my 86 5kcst. Shortly after
start rpms climb to about 3k/min and stay here. No reaction to idle screw
but turning mixture adjustment to lean(counterclockwise)just stalls the
engine. Manuals refer to sticking plate or plunger. The plate definitely
doesn't, but how can I check the plunger? Or maybe its something else? Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated(unfortunately I am Bentleyless).
