more ?'s

Besides the oil spewing from the front end of my '86 4kcsq, when I come to
stops and idle for a minute or so,, I get strong odors of gasoline.  It is more
noticable after long trips and only at stops.  I do not notice any smells
coming from the engine compartment.  I realize I need to check the feul lines
front to back, but does anyone have some suggestions on what could be causing
this?  Where should I look first?
