5th gear speed test

After a few trips up and down the B-17, I've got the following:

Conditions: '91 200tqw 20v (US spec), stock motor, Pirelli 210P
195/65R15's, Thule ski rack, temp = 40 ish (5 C), 1700 feet MSL, low
humidity, negligible wind, 3/4 tank 93 octane.

1000 RPM = a very unhappy 23 mph (coasting down an off ramp)
2000 RPM = 48 mph
2400 RPM = 60 mph
3000 RPM = 76 mph
4000 RPM = 101 mph
5000 RPM = 126 mph
6000 RPM = 148 mph

I'd say it's a pretty flat response. I'm a little surprised at the falling
off at 6k, but I did it three times, just to be sure. In the above
configuration, there's VERY little left at 6k.

BTW: The cruise control works at 130 mph.

BTW #2: Yes, I know I was breaking the law. The sticker on the dash says
top speed is tire related to 130 mph and to see manuel for details. Since
I don't know anyone named "Manuel" I thought it would be okay, just this
once.
