oil temp indicator failure

Dear fellow Audi drivers,

The oil temp indicator led bar graph in my 85 coupe quattro ceased to
operate, namely, the lowest segment is on all the time, while it used to
go up to above 100 degrees. Where should I start to investigate? I would
appreciate any ideas.
