My last memory of my second car, a '75 Rabbit, was that poor car sitting
with its wheels on the ground, while my mechanic's lift rose and rose and
rose.

We couldn't figure out what was going on...until...we looked inside the car.

The carpet was up at the level of the glove box and rising. Floorboard had
simply peeled off the rocker panels and firewall and curled up with the lift.

That was the end of that ride. It was a fun car, especially the handbrake
turns in the snow. But it was the *second* car of mine to fall victim to
the upstate New York snow/salt cancer.
