Re: battery drain while parked - why?
Fellow Audi fanatics,
Just last week, I replaced the voltage regulator in my 87 5ktq to an
adjustable one and set it to 14.9 volts. Compared to other cars that I have
worked on, the voltage on these cars is relatively low (13.8V) which is good
for going on long trips but when it comes to our 20-30 minute drives with
our fully loaded cars (2 amplifiers, 2 12 inch subwoofers, fog lights, rear
defrost, heated seats, headlights(what little we have), 13.8V just isn't
enough, whereas if we were driving our cars 4-5 hours at a time, 13.8V would
be fine. I was lucky enough to have a friend who owns an alternator,
starter shop and had both rebuilt. Now my headlights are slightly brighter,
music is slightly louder, defroster is quicker, and windshield washer sprays
better. If any fellow fanatics are interested in an adjustable regulator
and can't find one, email me and I'll get in touch with my friend and get
back to you.

headlights)
