Quattro System Diff's (hehe...puns...)

Steve Valin decided to speak these words:

>V8Q's don't have a center torsen. Their torsen is in the rear. The
>center is an electronically controlled device (multi-plate clutch?)...

Wait a sec...i thought that the V8 with the Quattro III had a center and
rear torsen...

I know,lets start a thread here! :)

What are the differences for each generation of quattro?

Lets see...this is what i think they are...

Q1= UrQuattro, 4000Q, 5000Q Which is the open front, center and rear
diffs with driver activated center and rear diff locks...

Q1.5= UrQ, 4000Q, 5000Q (85-87?) Which has the newer style dial for the
locking diffs and a little bit of mechanical stuff on the lock
assembly...but 95% the same as the first...

Q2= 80Q, 90Q, 100Q, 200Q This is the first incarnation of quattro with a
center Torsen diff. the driver has control on locking the rear, but it
automatically comes unlocked at 15mph...A unique feature of this system
is the ability to turn off ABS, which is unheard of in the automotive
world...

Q3= V8Q...This is the system only used on the V8 which to my
understanding is an open front with a center and rear torsen
system...Therefore, the driver does nothing, the system does it all by
itself...

Q4= A4, A6, A8 This is the newest one with only a center torsen and
front and rear EDL differentials, meaning they lock automatically, in
conjunction with the ABS assistance and traction control, this system is
fully automatic and very advanced electronically..

Is there anythingelse that need to know, or am i pretty much on target?
(doubtful)
