<What are the differences for each generation of quattro? 

<Lets see...this is what i think they are...

<Q1= UrQuattro, 4000Q, 5000Q Which is the open front, center and rear 
<diffs with driver activated center and rear diff locks...

I think we can add additional detail here. All from memory:

Q1 #1, individual cable-operated push/pull knobs for center & rear diff locks
Q1 #2, individual vacuum-operated push/pull knobs (to reduce NVH, same idea as the electronic speedo setups w/no cable)
Q1 #3, single three-position vacuum-operated push/pull knob, both open, center only locked, both center and rear locked
Q1 #4, single three-position vacuum-operated rotary known, both open, center only locked, both center and rear locked

Not really sure about Q1 #2 tho.....

Any other variations?
