Cool intake air

OK already,

We've established the not so new news that hot air isn't the way to get HP.
Really this isn't news. The fact that you can't open a magazine w/o
seeing another open cone K&N won't change that. They'd still have you
believe that a car that is lowered 2.5"s and runs 40 series tires is "firm
but not harsh" Yeah right.

So lets take a car, I have one. An '88 5ktq. It has the curved snorkel
off the airbox. It has got to suck hot air. It is aimed at the turbo!
Well almost.

QSHIP stated once I think that the shape and length were for low end torque
improvement. Maybe for noise reduction also.

But has anyone actually changed the tube to pick up air from the
fenderwell? Or from below the car in a still air spot?

I could pull a headlight and stuff air into the engine compartment. I
switched from "Aeros" to "squareos" in my '88 so I could pull a high beam.
But I don't think I will. I'd have to pull both. But I do have 500
driving lights on the bumper also. They could just become the inner hi
beams.

But anyway. Are we just going to hypothesize? on where to get the cool air
or has somebody done it?

When the weather warms up I may go for a fenderwell air source.

I won't run an open K&N on the Xr either though people do. And when they
do it is tucked into a corner behind and blocked by a headlight! Where do
they think they get air from?

My Xr gets air from the R/H fenderwell and from the lower left front.

So who has done what?
