ur-quattro brake upgrades

most people recognise that brakes (single caliper front and rear), were not the
best thing about the early ur-quattro (evo 1) and that audi upgraded the brakes
with twin caliper g60's for the 1988 evo 2 model (torsen), and upgraded the
rear disks for the evo 3 (20 valve) model.

has anyone on the list with an ur-quattro ever contemplated upgrading the g60
twin caliper brakes to a 4-pot 300mm setup? if so, i'd appreciate your
observations and comments.

others with ur-quattro's; what are your thoughts about the brakes and the
potential of upgrading?

interestingly, the swept (piston) volume of the original brakes weren't changed
much by the g60 conversion. so what accounts for their better performance and
greater resistance to fade? is this more to do with the actual size of the
disc itself, rather than the number of pistons?

what about upgrading the fronts to 300mm, 4 pistons (with 17" wheels) and
moving the g60's to the rear? would this make the car over-braked? in doing
this sort of conversion (ss brake lines to the front as well), does the braking
system need to be modified as well?

any comments welcome...
